The AACC internship provides undergraduate students an opportunity to undertake creative and challenging assignments. This experience is offered as a 3-credit hour Global Studies 199 class where all interns will attend a weekly seminar to develop professional skills and learn about Asian American and Asian international cultures, experiences, and identities.

Internship recruitment is open to all University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign undergraduate students and majors. Domestic and international student applicants welcome. First and second-year students are also highly encouraged to apply.
Opportunities:
Interns will have opportunities to be involved in several areas of the center including programming, outreach & marketing, and daily building operations
Below are some past examples of projects, events, tasks, and initiatives interns have assisted with:
- Programming: Food for Thought, South Asian American Leadership Conference, Community Wellness Lounge, celebration dinners, and leadership awards.
- Outreach & Marketing: Social media content creation, poster and flier design, merchandise branding, student organization relationship building, and outreach events and tabling.
- Building Operations: Calendar management, visitor reception, opening and closing the building, housekeeping, digital mailings, event set-up and clean-up, and equipment and key checkouts.
Internships at the Asian American Cultural Center are designed for students with a background in student affairs, leadership, cultural studies, education, social justice, programming, or related fields. Internships offer leadership opportunities to engage in high-level program development, project management, student engagement, and community outreach. Interns will collaborate closely with staff to create and implement impactful programs, team development, and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the AACC. This is a paid internship at $15/hour for 10-12 hours/week.

- Operations Intern: Assist with center’s daily operations (eg, database management, space reservations, inventory, resource lending check-outs) and other behind-the-scenes duties
- Arts Intern: Assist with arts and culture-related programming (eg, cultural performances, art shows, book discussions)
Requirements
- Enroll and attend Global Studies 199 (3-credit hour course) in fall and spring
- Weekly class meetings on Tuesdays, 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
- Maintain a ten (10) hour per week schedule of front-desk operations, housekeeping and other assigned tasks
- Assist with signature programs and outreach for approximately two (2) hours per week
