Are you a graduate student seeking a sense of belonging within the AAPI community?
The Asian and Asian American Graduate Network (the Grad Network) is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community for APIDA graduate students at UIUC. The program will be held once a month during the Fall 2024 semester!
Background
Prior to our launch event, the founders conducted semi-structured interviews with Asian international and Asian American graduate students. These interviews aimed to deepen our understanding of the unique experiences and challenges encountered by this group. Armed with this insight, we have tailored our events to facilitate meaningful connections among APIDA graduate students at UIUC, while also inspiring a sense of enthusiasm for engagement in AACC activities.
Goals of the Program
- Recognize shared identities and experiences among Asian graduate students.
- Provide a platform to discuss academic and cultural challenges, fostering mutual support
- Cultivate a sense of belonging through cultural experiences that celebrate their respective heritage and home countries.
